The Senior Manager is responsible for optimizing the Fraud team's operations, mitigating fraud losses while balancing regulatory and reputational risks with the customer and stakeholder experience. Responsibilities Fraud Prevention Strategy & Leadership Developing and executing comprehensive fraud prevention strategies and policies, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements. Leading, managing, and mentoring a team of Supervisors, Senior Investigators, Investigators, and Fraud Officers, providing guidance, incident management, and training to optimize performance and professional growth. Proactively monitoring and analyzing fraud trends, patterns, and emerging risks to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities within Questrade’s operations. Collaboration & System Enhancement Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders (Cyber, Customer Service, Operations, Risk Management, Compliance/AML, Legal, IT) to foster collaboration and information sharing. Partnering with technology teams to enhance fraud detection systems, tools, and processes, utilizing advanced analytics and machine learning for improved accuracy and efficiency. Conducting thorough investigations of suspected fraud incidents, coordinating with law enforcement and external partners as needed. Reporting, Compliance & Industry Engagement Implementing robust reporting mechanisms and metrics to measure the effectiveness of fraud prevention programs and communicating key findings and recommendations to senior leadership. Staying current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and advancements in fraud prevention technologies, recommending and implementing improvements to maintain cutting‑edge capabilities. Building and maintaining strong relationships with external fraud prevention organizations, industry forums, and regulatory bodies to stay informed about emerging threats and best practices. Ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies related to fraud prevention and reporting. Serving as a subject matter expert, assisting clients and internal teams in identifying, defining, and recommending modifications, enhancements, or new strategies for successful products/services. Advocacy & Continuous Improvement Acting as a change agent within the business, advocating for fraud prevention and fostering fraud awareness. Maintaining awareness of industry and regulatory developments to ensure timely company preparedness. Researching, scanning the external environment, and developing new ideas and systems to improve fraud detection and mitigation. Identifying opportunities for improvement, focusing on risk/return and ensuring alignment with Fraud Risk Management teams. Identifying and escalating fraud risks that exceed or will exceed the risk appetite. Leading and participating in the identification, development, and implementation of new initiatives. Contributing to and supporting various projects and initiatives across the Fraud Management Group. Participating in discussions with IT partners and vendors regarding requirements and solution design. Qualifications Have 5+ years of relevant experience in a senior leadership role within fraud risk management. Have 5-10 years of proven experience in fraud prevention, investigations, or related fields within the financial services industry, preferably in a managerial capacity. Hold a degree in finance, business administration, or a related field. Have strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with keen attention to detail and the ability to interpret complex data, identify patterns, and detect trends. Proficient in utilizing fraud detection tools, data analytics, and risk management technologies. Solid understanding of fraud schemes, techniques, and emerging trends across various financial products and services. Solid understanding of the Google suite and its functionality. Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements related to fraud prevention and reporting, including AML and KYC regulations. Understanding of industry Key Performance Indicators and Key Risk Indicators. Excellent time management, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize multiple initiatives to meet deadlines. Strong planning, presentation, project management, and relationship‑building skills. Comprehensive knowledge of a wide variety of banking and investment products and services. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to liaison with internal and external stakeholders at all levels. Excellent written communication skills, including drafting briefing notes, program documents, and meeting summaries. Excellent presentation skills, engaging, motivating, and inspiring diverse audiences. Demonstrated experience in managing and developing high‑performing teams, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
