Administrative Assistant, Community and Distance Learning This employment opportunity is restricted to Nunavut Inuit who reside in Iqaluit only. Reporting to the Chair, Community and Distance Learning, the Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing professional administrative, secretarial, program delivery support, as well as Inuit language services to the Division of Community and Distance Learning. This division provides adult education services to 25 Community Learning Centres, as well as Academic Studies, and numerous third‑party extension programs. Other Key Responsibilities Of The Position Include: Providing executive assistance to the Chair. Supporting the financial, administrative/clerical and information systems of the division. Maintaining attendance records for Nunatta Community and Distance Learning staff. Ordering supplies for the division and maintaining inventory. Providing information and acting as a resource on courses and programs within the division and on policies and procedures. Arranging all duty travel for the Chair, PASS staff, Qikiqtaaluk Managers/ Adult Educators. The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through the completion of a high school diploma or equivalency plus a Certificate in Office Administration with a minimum of one year of experience working in a related administrative area. Fluency in Inuktitut is a requirement. Experience working in an educational environment is an asset. The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktun, English and French. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets. Acceptable combinations of education and experience may be considered for this position.
