We believe in providing a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone can thrive and make an impact.Are you a skilled leader with a passion for high voltage operations?The Supervisor, High Voltage Operations is responsible for supervising, coordinating, and overseeing trade resources in the areas of construction, maintenance, and trouble response. This position liaises with internal departments, external agencies, and contractors to plan and coordinate Power Services activities to ensure safe, efficient, high-quality, and cost-effective delivery of services.What you’ll doPlanning and CoordinationPlans, organizes, schedules, assigns, and coordinates the activities of employees and contractors engaged in the installation and maintenance of associated overhead, underground, and customer station facilities.Liaises with potential customers for business development.Liaises with the control room for coordination of related planned or unplanned work.Obtains all relevant records and paperwork for construction and maintenance programs.Updates the planner and effectively communicates plans to the Control Room Operating Department.Safety and ComplianceEnsures safe working conditions and procedures in all phases of power services operations, including the proper operation and maintenance of line vehicles and other assigned equipment.Provides safety leadership, enforces rules and regulations, and conducts safety audits to identify and safeguard hazards, which may or may not be covered by established procedures.Ensures compliance with legislative, regulatory, and Health & Safety policies, procedures, and standards.Ensures adherence to and effective administration of the collective agreement.Leadership and DevelopmentLeads the job planning process and ensures that crews are following plans and understand all hazards.Assists in the design process of work orders to ensure proper completion and allocation of resources and assists crews in design or process changes.Provides coaching, development, performance management, technical guidance, and advice.Provides input into department goals and objectives.Leads and/or participates in department projects and key initiatives to ensure quality and timely completion within budget.Researches, recommends, and implements new or enhanced policies, procedures, and processes to improve operational effectiveness.Customer and Stakeholder RelationsMaintains positive interactions with employees, customers, and external stakeholders in a proactive manner to maintain optimum effectiveness of operations.Assists in the costing of projects, accounting for expenditures, and billing instructions.Safety LeadershipEnsures all aspects of the Company’s safety philosophy are executed and adhered to.Supports and promotes the corporate safety culture.Ensures all safety audits and work observations are completed and all incidents are investigated in a timely manner.Who you areEducation & Specialized KnowledgeCertified in the Utility Work Protection CodeC.E.T certification and/or Master Electrician license is an assetMust hold and maintain a valid class “G” driver’s licenseKnowledge of the health & safety systems, operating systems, and other IT systemsAdvanced knowledge of distribution systems standards and specifications, line construction and maintenance, standards and specifications, design review and development, GPSKnowledge of the regulatory environment including Standards Manuals, E&USA Rule Book and Safe Practice Guides, ESA, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act as they pertain to the workProficiency with MS Office and work management applicationsExperienceMinimum of 5 years of experience in an electric utility environment as a trade JourneypersonDemonstrated experience in a supervisory/lead roleSafe work record and strong safety orientationExperience in a unionized utility environment an assetEnhanced conflict resolution skills and the ability to handle difficult situationsWillingness to work on-call and/or emergency work dutiesStrong ability to lead change and engage, develop and motivate teamsStrong problem-solving skills with the ability to provide practical and/or innovative solutionsStrong written and presentation skills, with the ability to convey information accurately and conciselyAbility to plan, prioritize and execute multiple projects and initiatives within established timelinesWhere you will workWho we areAs the largest municipally owned electric utility in Canada, we are committed to growing, evolving, and remaining innovative to build a sustainable and brighter future.
