Operations Supervisor

**Job description**

Speedy Transport is an LTL carrier specializing in Canada to USA transportation and logistics for Canada, USA, Ontario, Quebec and North America. Founded in 1941 as a local, same-day parcel pick-up and delivery service, Speedy Transport has grown to be one of central Canada’s premier carriers.

**Position Summary**:
The purpose of this position is to supervise the day-to-day operations of a high-performance warehouse and to lead the workforce to achieve safety, quality, service, and costing goals. This will be accomplished by taking a “Hands on” approach to everyday operations and staff issues.

**Position Responsibilities**:

- Ensure that the warehouse is adequately staffed and that personnel are properly trained to carry out their work in a safe and competent manner.
- Work with the employees to ensure a safe work environment consistent with relevant legislation and company policies
- Ensure that the warehouse is efficiently scheduled to meet customer requirements and that customer issues are resolved in an effective and timely manner
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, quality, budget targets and contribute to the growth of the company in a pro-active manner
- Oversee all routine and preventative maintenance and schedule any major repairs in accordance with production requirements
- Supervise the overall logistics of the company’s shipping and receiving.
- Supervise all operational employees and dock workers
- Supervise a team of approx. 20 employees.
- Work closely with customer service to provide the best possible service for our customers
- Be active in the discipline of employees

**Position Qualifications**:

- Previous warehousing experience essential
- Minimum 2 years supervisory experience - leading people, product scheduling etc
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written
- Proven problem-solving skills and a demonstrated ability to achieve operational goals
- Ability to work under pressure and handle several complex tasks simultaneously
- Ability to perform shift work and available for flexible hours
- Ability to take ownership of issues and problem analysis, decision making and resolution
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
- Ability to listen and provide effective and timely feedback
- Ability to work effectively, efficiently, and courteously with other staff
- Ability to prioritize and organize work effectively
- Ability to work in a high-volume environment and meet deadlines
- Ability to operate a personal computer and associated software
- Ability to rapidly learn and perform tasks related to the department or units regulations, policies, rules, functions, procedures, or processes
- Ability to communicate with others and to assimilate and understand information to make sound decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions

**Shift**:

- **Sunday to Thursday, 10 pm to 6:30 am**

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $45,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
