Facilities Lead

Position Summary: The Facility Lead is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of ANEW’s facilities, including maintenance coordination, vendor management, health and safety, and facility compliance across all organizational sites. This role provides hands‑on leadership to the maintenance staff and works collaboratively with internal leaders to support safe and effective operations. The Facility Lead is accountable to the Operations Manager of Anew Centre for Healing, and will collaboratively with the Business Lead, HR Lead, and House Leads. Key Roles and Responsibilities: Facility Operations: Provide daily oversight of all ANEW facilities. Ensure facilities are safe, clean, functional, and appropriate for service delivery. Conduct regular site walk‑throughs to identify maintenance needs, risks, or safety concerns. Respond to urgent facility issues and coordinate timely resolution. Support setup and readiness of shared spaces and homes as required. Facility Inspections & Compliance: Lead and coordinate monthly facility inspections at each site using approved compliance checklist, in collaboration with the maintenance staff. Complete and maintain inspection documentation in alignment with organizational policy, Alberta Licensing requirements, and Canadian Accreditation Council (CAC) standards. Identify deficiencies or risks and initiate corrective actions through to completion. Maintain organized, audit‑ready records and report findings to Directors. Work Order & Maintenance Coordination: Oversee and coordinate all facility‑related work orders across sites. Determine responsibility for issues (landlord, internal maintenance, or external contractor). Assign, prioritize, and track work orders to completion. Provide guidance to House Leads regarding urgency, risk level, and interim safety measures. Monitor quality, timelines, and documentation of work completed. Vendor & Contract Management: Maintain an approved list of vendors and contractors. Coordinate and supervise contractor access to site. Ensure safety standards and scope of work are met. Address vendor performance concerns and escalate as required. Support Directors and the Business Lead with quotes and scheduling. Maintenance Staff Leadership: Provide day‑to‑day leadership and direction to maintenance staff. Assign and adjust tasks based on inspections, work orders, and operational priorities. Conduct monthly supervision check‑ins focused on priorities, safety, and workload. Provide coaching and elevate performance or capacity concerns to Directors. Health & Safety Coordination (Facilities‑Focused): Coordinate the organization’s Health & Safety. Coordinate and supervise contractor access to site. Ensure safety standards and scope of work are met. Address vendor performance concerns and escalate as required. Support Directors and the Business Lead with quotes and scheduling. Qualifications and Requirements: Experience in facilities management, maintenance coordination, or building operations. Experience supervising maintenance staff and coordinating vendors or contractors. Knowledge of occupational health and safety requirements. Experience in regulated environments (licensed care, health, education, or social services) is considered an asset. Strong organizational, documentation, and problem‑solving skills. Working Conditions: Part‑Time position; (approximately 22‑24 hours per week). Must be available for on‑call emergencies. Ability to multi‑task, meet deadlines and anticipate the needs of the organization. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Non‑judgement manner and strong personal boundaries.
