OverviewPatient and Family Resource Centre Assistant – Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Patient and Family Resource Centre Assistant to join the team at the CIBC Patient Family Education Centre at Vancouver General Hospital. This role provides welcoming, informative, and supportive assistance to patients, families and visitors, with access to reliable health information and community resources.ResponsibilitiesProvide a welcoming, informative, and respectful presence to patients, families and visitors to the Centre for Patients and Families.Offer support to patients, families and/or visitors through active listening, empathy, and access to reliable health information and community-based resources.Provide practical support services, such as assisting visitors to complete applications, providing information on transportation, and supporting patients and families to identify additional needs.Collect, organize, and maintain a diverse range of patient resources and up-to-date information on federal, provincial, and community resources/services.Education & ExperienceGraduation from a recognized Social Services Worker diploma program or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesAbility to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.Ability to deal with others effectively.Ability to organize work.Ability to operate related equipment.Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.Working Conditions & Additional InformationThe hours of work, including days off and work area, may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check. As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded facilities are required to report past receipt of certain vaccines or infections.
