We are seeking an engaging, collaborative, values‑driven professional to join our Community and Indigenous Relations team. The Senior Coordinator, Indigenous Employment will play a key role in advancing our commitments to Indigenous Governments and Organisations by supporting Indigenous employment and retention at the Highland Valley Copper mine site. This position will work closely with Human Resources to ensure initiatives align with organisational policies while fostering strong, trust‑based relationships with Indigenous partners. Cultural sensitivity and respect for Indigenous traditions, values, and protocols are essential to success in this role. Key Responsibilities Be a courageous safety leader by adhering to and promoting environmental and safety standards. Support compliance with HVC’s agreements with Indigenous Governments and Organisations, focusing on Indigenous hiring, training, and retention. Provide direct support to Indigenous employees at the mine site, assisting with addressing concerns and connecting them to resources that promote success and well‑being in their career. Work closely and collaboratively with the HVC Human Resources team to ensure all initiatives align with HVC and Teck’s Human Resources policies and procedures. Lead engagement with Indigenous Governments and Organisations on employment‑related initiatives. Identify risks, issues, and opportunities related to Indigenous employment and develop actionable strategies that reflect both business priorities and community aspirations. Monitor, evaluate, and report on Indigenous hiring and retention programmes to drive continuous improvement. Support adherence to Indigenous Inclusion Plans for subcontractors associated with major projects (e.g., HVC Mine Life Extension). Supervise Coordinator‑level staff and provide mentorship. Support site tours, open houses, and community events, including occasional evenings and weekends. Qualifications Post‑Secondary degree in Indigenous studies, Human Resources, Social Sciences, Community Development, or Business plus 3+ years experience in community relations or human resources (preferably in an Indigenous or resource sector context); OR 10 years of a combination of relevant education and directly related practical experience. Experience in a unionised environment is an asset. Strong cultural competency and understanding of Indigenous history, rights, and socio‑economic contexts; knowledge of Nlaka’pamux culture and protocols is an asset. Demonstrated skills in negotiation, conflict resolution, and consensus‑building processes. Ability to build and maintain trust‑based relationships with diverse stakeholders. Excellent written and verbal communication and active listening skills. Strong project management, organisational, and prioritisation abilities. Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint, with a proven capacity to quickly adopt new technologies and proprietary platforms, including tools for reporting and engagement analytics. Adaptable, self‑motivated, and capable of working independently and collaboratively. Capable of maintaining strict confidentiality in alignment with Teck’s Code of Ethics.
