Ultimately, EllisDon’s purpose is to provide people with similar values the opportunity to achieve to their full potential; to deliver that opportunity for great careers to one another; and to contribute meaningfully to the community we share with others.You as a Design Manager (Building Group) will:Lead the Design team, on behalf of the Construction team, to achieve overall project schedule and budgetLead discussions on design progress, design schedule, and design compliance with the construction teamLead the Design team in developing compliant, efficient, and constructable design solutionsBe the point of contact for the client for all design-related issues and discussionsManage the development of design proposals for design-build style project pursuitsOversee design coordination processes, ensuring design team cohesion and collaborationAnalyze project requirements, guiding the design team to meet them, while maintaining budgetary requirementsLead the development of winning design strategies and efficient design management processesDevelop processes for design submissions and stakeholder engagement presentations in conjunction with the design teamLead discussions on change management within the Design processCoordinate the Design team and Design documentation to support the estimating team and the procurement teamManage project design schedule to ensure coordination with project logistics plans and sequence of constructionManage consultant contracts and scopes of work based on requirements and proposed designMaintain collaborative working relationships with partner consultants and trade contractorsUnderstand and manage a Statement of Requirements / Project Agreement to ensure design compliance and contractual protocol adherenceWork with the estimating and procurement team to ensure adequate design assumptions are managed and contained within project budgetsManage the development and submission of Development Permits and Building Permits with the local AHJManage the development and submission of other technical permit applications such as NavCan, Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission, Transport Canada, etc. depending on the project's specific design requirementsIs this the right role for you?You have an architectural, engineering, or construction related degree and seven to ten years of Design Management experienceYou have a working knowledge of construction scopes and activities, scheduling, project management, and contract softwareExperience in estimating and project management would be seen as an assetYou have the ability to confidently mentor and delegate to a large team while developing and maintaining strong client relationsEllisDon is proud to provide this unique career opportunity that provides continuous learning, opportunity for growth, and a competitive compensation package within an environment that is committed to inclusion and respects diversity.Go ahead and be yourself.
