The 24/7 ED sees approximately 22,000 visits per year. You will manage a diverse range of cases, collaborate with specialists in internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, general surgery, pediatrics, and psychiatry, and have the opportunity to teach and mentor medical students and residents as part of the UBC Faculty of Medicine’s rural teaching program. Leadership DevelopmentFor physicians interested in leadership, Interior Health’s NAVIG8 Emerging Physician Leaders Program offers comprehensive training. The hospital’s redevelopment project will expand services and include a new building and upgraded ED with 23 treatment spaces. By 2029, additional units (medical‑surgical, mental health, maternity, oncology, and ambulatory care) will be available. Qualifications• CCFP, CCFP (EM), or FRCPC in Emergency Medicine.• Emergency experience is an asset, but mentorship is available for new Canadian graduates and international medical graduates. CompensationAlternative Payment Arrangement: Annual rate of $388,527/FTE for EMEMSP (pro‑rated for partial fiscal years).Annual rate of $351,277/FTE for EMEMGP (pro‑rated for partial fiscal years). Benefits and Incentives• Flexible vacation leave with scheduling support.• Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) may provide additional remuneration (Retention Premium 12.32%, Flat Fee $19,092).• Relocation funding: $9,000 for moves within BC, $12,000 for moves within Canada, $15,000 for those relocating from outside Canada.• Recruitment Incentive: $15,000 (prorated for part‑time physicians).• Continuing education support: $440 up to 2 years, $2,640 during the 3rd and 4th year, $4,840 after 4 years, plus Doctors of BC CME funds.
