Serving a population of approximately 35,000, the area is part of the broader Cariboo Regional District, which encompasses 62,000 residents. Williams Lake has something for everyone Cariboo Memorial Hospital (CMH) is a Level‑2 community hospital undergoing a major transformation with planned completion in 2029. It offers a broad spectrum of services, including emergency medicine, internal medicine, general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedic surgery, pediatrics, psychiatry, anesthesia, and hospitalist services. Laboratory services, diagnostic imaging, and outpatient hemodialysis units are available on‑site. Practice and Responsibilities Join our collegial emergency medicine team in a 24/7 ED that manages approximately 22,000 visits per year. Each shift offers exposure to a diverse range of cases and numerous procedural opportunities. You will collaborate with specialists in internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, general surgery, pediatrics, and psychiatry. In our ED, you’ll also have the opportunity to teach and mentor medical students and residents as part of UBC Faculty of Medicine’s rural teaching program. Leadership Development Opportunities For those interested, the Interior Health NAVIG8 Program provides a comprehensive leadership development experience tailored to emerging physician leaders. Redevelopment Project The CMH redevelopment project (https://tinyurl.com/CMH-Project) will expand the hospital, adding a new building with an upgraded emergency department featuring 23 treatment spaces. By 2029, CMH will feature new medical‑surgical, mental health, and maternity units, expanded oncology and ambulatory care services, and an academic space for UBC Faculty of Medicine. Compensation Annual rate of $388,527/FTE for EMEMSP (prorated for partial fiscal year) Annual rate of $351,277/FTE for EMEMGP (prorated for partial fiscal year) Benefits and Incentives Vacation leave with flexible scheduling Retention premium 12.32% Retention flat fee $19,092 Relocation funding: $9,000 for BC moves, $12,000 for Canada moves, $15,000 for international moves Recruitment incentive $15,000 (prorated for part‑time physicians) RCME funds: $440 for up to 2 years, $2,640 in years 3–4, $4,840 after 4 years; plus Doctors of BC CME funds Other rural incentives—subject to change and confirmed at the time of offer Qualifications Applicants must hold CCFP, CCFP (EM), or FRCPC in Emergency Medicine. Emergency experience is an asset, but mentorship is available for new Canadian graduates and international medical graduates.
