Senior Accountant Posted on January 19, 2026 by Employer details Walia Group of Companies We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant with strong expertise in real estate accounting and a proven track record of working across US and Canadian markets. The ideal candidate will be responsible for financial reporting, compliance, and accounting operations for our real estate portfolio, ensuring accurate and timely financial information in accordance with both US GAAP and Canadian accounting standards. Key Responsibilities Lead full‑cycle accounting for real estate properties, including rent roll reconciliation, lease accounting, and property‑level financials. Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Ensure compliance with US GAAP, IFRS, and Canadian accounting standards where applicable. Manage intercompany accounting, consolidations, and eliminations across US and Canadian entities. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. Coordinate with property managers, leasing teams, and external auditors. Support tax planning and preparation for both US and Canadian jurisdictions. Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities. Implement and maintain internal controls and accounting policies. Assist with ERP system management and process improvements. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA/CA/CMA preferred). Minimum 5–8 years of accounting experience, with a focus on real estate. Experience working in both US and Canada, with strong knowledge of cross‑border accounting requirements. Strong understanding of US GAAP, IFRS, and Canadian accounting standards. Experience with lease accounting (ASC 842 / IFRS 16) is a strong advantage. Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with ERP systems (e.g., Yardi, MRI, JD Edwards, SAP) preferred. Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
