Senior Analyst – S&P Global Ratings Grade Level: 11 Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada Job ID: 322604 | Posted on: 2025-12-08 About the Role S&P Global Ratings is one of the world's leading providers of independent credit risk research. Within the North America Insurance sector, the Senior Analyst will conduct comprehensive credit analysis on life/health insurance entities, collaborate across financial services sectors, and produce rating recommendations and analytical reports for committees and clients. The role involves interacting with issuers, assessing financial data, building models, and presenting findings. Responsibilities and Impact Serve as the primary analyst for assigned issuers, preparing well‑supported rating recommendations for rating committees. Act as a voting member of rating committees and review materials before publication. Publish timely and insightful credit reports and contribute to research pieces. Maintain strong knowledge of ratings criteria, financial statement analysis, and industry news. Provide analytical support to teammates and foster collaboration. Engage with clients and stakeholders, presenting findings and addressing inquiries professionally. Apply solutions to complex analytical issues, taking an end‑to‑end view of rating processes. Identify potential credit risks and suggest process improvements. Deliver high‑quality work consistently and meet critical deadlines. All employees are required to work from the office at least two days per week. Candidates reaching the final interview stage must attend an in‑person interview at an S&P Global Ratings office before offers are made. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related analytical field; MBA, CPA, or CFA preferred. More than 3 years of experience in financial statement analysis, accounting concepts and financial modeling, preferably in corporate credit analysis. Strong client‑facing skills and ability to communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences. Independent, analytical thinker with integrity, curiosity, problem‑solving and research skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for internal and external stakeholders. Strong attention to detail and quantitative analysis capabilities. Ability to accurately interpret financial data and apply analytical criteria to generate insights. Collaborative team player, able to work independently and support team initiatives. Proactive and organized with excellent time management and prioritization skills. Strong understanding of financial reporting and capital markets; knowledge of credit rating methodologies preferred.
