Job Summary The Category Management and Strategic Sourcing Specialist is responsible for sourcing and the management of clinical and non‑clinical supplies, equipment, and services within specific categories. This role contributes to optimizing expenditures for supplies, equipment, and services in assigned categories by leveraging advanced data analysis and strategic sourcing methodologies. The incumbent is responsible for existing and new non‑labor spend within their assigned area(s), focusing on Total Cost of Ownership, product efficacy, supplier diversity, sustainability, and value. Essential Functions & Responsibilities Stewardship Develops and implements category‑specific sourcing strategies. Provides recommendations that are fiscally responsible and in alignment with organizational goals. Engages in continuous improvement by seeking cost reduction opportunities, process improvement, and efficiency gains. Identifies and evaluates potential suppliers, negotiates contracts, and establishes partnerships. Responsible for the end‑to‑end source‑to‑contract process for assigned category(ies) within a healthcare setting utilizing sourcing best practices such as Request for Proposal/Request for Information/Request for Quotation. Manages and utilizes GPO contracts to achieve contract compliance and contract penetration. Identifies and recommends opportunities for standardization of goods. Responsible for Contract Management in regard to recording, maintenance, monitoring, and reporting. Identifies potential risks in product selection, to include supply chain disruptions or product recalls. Data Benchmarks non‑labor spend against industry standards to identify areas of opportunity. Utilizes advanced data analytics tools to identify patterns, trends, and opportunities for cost optimization through comprehensive data interpretation. Develops and utilizes reports to conduct analyses on category performance, spending patterns, and key performance indicators. Presents findings to leadership and stakeholders for informed decision‑making. Documents and reports savings, rebates, and historical consumption. Stakeholders Advises and collaborates with the Value Analysis Team(s), physicians, finance, and other subject matter experts to understand requirements and preferences that contribute to effective patient care and services. Oversees product implementation process including coordinating in‑service education. Works across departments to integrate procurement programs and strategies into the broader organizational framework. Other Actively seeks information about market trends, innovations, and emerging technologies within categories. Fosters collaboration with suppliers, ensuring smooth communication, resolving issues promptly, and leveraging partnerships for mutual benefit. Evaluates and qualifies suppliers based on criteria such as quality, reliability, cost, and compliance. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree preferred. Minimum of three years’ experience with progressive responsibility in contracting and/or procurement required. Experience managing multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously required. Experience with Supply Chain Information Systems (SCIS), data analytics tools, or other relevant technologies required. Contract analysis and negotiation experience preferred. Experience in a healthcare setting with experience in medical/surgical supplies, services, or equipment preferred.
