Join our team at the University of Alberta Hospital as part of the COPD Self Initiative (CSI) Team. In this role, you will assess patients, develop and implement respiratory therapy care plans and monitor their progress. You will be responsible for direct patient care, diagnostic and therapeutic equipment, and interventions, while collaborating with interprofessional teams to enhance clinical outcomes. You will educate patients and families about diseases, medications, equipment and treatments, and facilitate appropriate follow‑up and community referrals. Responsibilities Assess and monitor patients (clients, residents) for respiratory conditions such as COPD. Develop and implement individualized respiratory therapy care plans. Use diagnostic and therapeutic equipment to provide treatment and interventions. Educate patients and families about disease management, medication use, equipment operation, and self‑management strategies. Optimize medical therapies following COPD best‑practice guidelines to improve quality of life and health status. Collaborate with clinical teams and interprofessional groups to achieve best clinical outcomes. Provide training and support to health‑care providers on respiratory equipment and care practices. Facilitate appropriate follow‑up and community referrals to reduce health‑care utilization. Qualifications Active or eligible registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA). Entry‑level experience or training in respiratory therapy preferred. Strong communication and education skills. Ability to work independently and as part of an interprofessional team.
