Aterna Advisors Inc. Staff Accountant (Job Reference Number: STA-45026) Our growing CPA firm in Langley, BC is looking for a full time Staff Accountant. Our firm offers accounting, tax, and consulting services for Canadian businesses and individuals. We are seeking a driven and motivated individual who thrives in a team environment, demonstrates strong attention to detail, and possesses excellent communication skills. In this role, you will work directly with clients to support general bookkeeping, assist in the preparation of compilation engagements, and contribute to review, audit, tax, and consulting assignments across a variety of industries, including public companies. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and grow within a collaborative public practice environment. Responsibilities Deliver exceptional client service by providing high-quality, timely and responsive support. Perform bookkeeping for a variety of businesses across multiple industries. Prepare sales tax (GST/HST/PST) returns in accordance with filing requirements. Prepare compilation engagements and related financial information. Prepare individual and corporate income tax returns, including all required compliance filings. Assist Managers and Partners with review and audit engagements, including clients in the junior resource sector and public companies reporting under IFRS. Assist in the preparation of working papers and supporting documentation for financial statement completion. Gain exposure to financial reporting under IFRS and regulatory compliance for publicly listed entities. Utilize accounting and tax software to enhance workflow efficiency and accuracy. What you bring to the role: 1-3 years of experience with a public accounting firm. Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills. Strong project management, teamwork, and interpersonal skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team environment. Demonstrated dedication to high standards of client service and professionalism in all aspects of work. Requirements: Solid understanding of accounting principles and ability to prepare journal entries for various business transactions. Working knowledge of ASPE and IFRS considered an asset. Strong technical and computer skills. Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word), CaseWare, tax software, and QuickBooks. Excellent communication skills and a collaborative team-oriented approach. Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and grow professionally. Ability to perform effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
