Senior Manager, Government Relations – Electricity Join EPCOR in Edmonton, AB as a strategic leader shaping the company’s position in one of North America’s dynamic electricity markets. Responsibilities Develop a forward‑looking government relations strategy for electricity, aligned with provincial and federal policy trends, market developments, and EPCOR’s decarbonization, customer and growth priorities. Integrate the electricity‑focused strategy across the organization, ensuring alignment and shared understanding of risks, opportunities, and policy direction. Provide strategic foresight on emerging federal and provincial electricity reforms, enabling EPCOR to anticipate change and influence outcomes proactively. Lead enterprise engagement on major electricity policy issues, including market design, distribution planning modernization, DER integration, procurement and wholesale market policy, affordability, consumer protection, and clean electricity policies. Track, analyze and assess policy proposals and regulatory decisions with material impacts on EPCOR’s operations, customers and future business. Build and maintain senior relationships with provincial and federal ministries, AESO, AUC, system operators and peer stakeholders across Alberta. Support EPCOR’s leadership in provincial consultations, technical working groups, multi‑stakeholder forums and national policy conversations. Advocate on electricity‑related grants, incentives and federal/provincial funding opportunities. Lead cross‑company relationship strategies for electricity‑related government and regulatory partners. Oversee monitoring, analysis, issues escalation management, and strategic reporting on electricity policy files. Provide coaching, issue leadership, and quality oversight for team members supporting electricity policy and GR. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Public Administration, Business, Communications, Economics or related fields. Graduate Degree in Public Policy, Business Administration or Communications is an asset. 10+ years of experience in government relations, public policy, regulatory affairs, or roles directly connected to electricity systems in industry, government, regulatory bodies or public agencies. Deep familiarity with the Alberta electricity market, including policy frameworks, regulatory structures, wholesale market design, retail models, and system operator functions. Demonstrated experience with strategy development, budget management, enterprise reporting and executive communication. Advanced written and verbal communication tailored to diverse audiences, including reporting to C‑Suite and Board levels. Experience navigating privacy legislation and access to information frameworks is desired. Other Information Jurisdiction: Alberta (PROF) Hours of work: 80 hours biweekly Eligible for EPCOR’s Employee Referral Reward Program: $1,000 reward for successful referrals.
