Our team members are empowered to take initiative and shape their own success. We are currently seeking an equipment operator for our construction site in Nanaimo. The equipment operator will be responsible for safely operating and maintaining construction machinery while supporting daily site operations. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to safety, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in physically demanding and outdoor environments. Responsibilities Operate heavy machinery and construction equipment safely and efficiently. Conduct pre‑operational inspections to ensure equipment is in proper working condition. Interpret blueprints, site plans, maps, and verbal instructions to perform tasks such as grading, excavation, lifting, and material hauling. Operate equipment in compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards. Monitor equipment performance during operation to ensure optimal efficiency and safety. Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs, including lubrication, cleaning, and part replacement. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe worksite at all times. Assist with the placement, positioning, and securing of materials and supplies. Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding work progress, equipment issues, and site conditions. Complete daily logs and reports documenting equipment usage, inspections, and maintenance activities. Skills and Experience Demonstrated experience operating heavy machinery and equipment. Ability to follow instructions and operate equipment safely, efficiently, and responsibly. Strong knowledge of applicable safety regulations, procedures, and best practices. Physical stamina and strength to operate machinery and perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods. Basic mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting, routine maintenance, and minor equipment repairs. Effective communication skills to interact professionally with supervisors and team members. Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions and work environments. Telehandler, Counterbalance Forklift, and/or Skid Steer certification, or equivalent hands‑on work experience.
