Hydrant and Hot Tapping Technician (Plumber/Pipe Fitter/Mechanically Inclined)Pacific Flow Control Ltd. is a growing company with big opportunities As a small team of around 20 employees, we take pride in our close-knit environment where the owners are actively involved in day-to-day operations.We are currently seeking a motivated, mechanically inclined individual to join our team in Calgary, Alberta. The selected candidate will undergo 6-8 weeks of training at our Langley, BC facility—housing provided, own transportation required.Duties and Responsibilities:Support senior technicians and train in hot tapping, line stopping, valve insertion, nitrogen line freezing, and hydrant maintenance.Perform measurements, calculations, and safety documentation using our digital platform.Set up trucks with tools, supplies, and equipment.Maintain, repair, and rebuild hot tapping machines, tools, and equipment.Assist with shop maintenance and organize shipments and inventory.Record all activities related to hot tapping services on our digital platform.Ensure proper care and maintenance of tools, equipment, and vehicles.Communicate professionally with customers and team members at work sites and in the shop.Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor, following company policies and procedures.Assist wherever needed and be capable of multitasking.Qualifications & Skills:High school diploma or equivalent preferred.Technical training or related experience preferred.Valid driver’s license (abstract required).Mechanical experience is an asset.Willingness to travel daily within Calgary and occasionally throughout BC, Alberta, and Saskatchewan.Self-motivated, able to work independently, and capable of working 12+ hour days when necessary.Ability to operate large service trucks with trailers (5500 series).Work Conditions:Flexible hours, including nights and weekends, with short notice.Travel up to 50% of the year across Alberta & BC, including Vancouver Island.Work involves indoor and outdoor environments in municipal, commercial, and industrial settings.Potential exposure to high noise, confined spaces, heights, and excavations.Willingness to wear safety equipment as per Alberta OHS standards, including being clean-shaven for respirator use.Physical & Mental Requirements:Ability to lift and carry over 50 pounds.Strong communication skills and ability to follow instructions.Mobility to access elevated and confined spaces.What We Offer:Union wages and benefits.Competitive pay based on experience.Training and advancement opportunities.Training in Langley, BC, with housing provided.Employment stability with no employee turnover since 2015.Supportive leadership focused on growth.Positive work-life balance.Salary:Starting from $28.00 CAD per hour.Join Pacific Flow Control Ltd., where your work is valued, your contributions are recognized, and your career can thrive.
