Calgary, Canada Big Rock Brewery LP Full time

Reporting to the Director of Brewery Operations, the Logistics Manager is responsible for all warehouse and distribution related functions across all current and future Big Rock operational sites in Canada.This role is responsible for providing leadership and direction to the warehouse team on warehouse management inventory management and order fulfillment. The Logistics Manager will perform duties in a safe, productive and cost-effective manner while maintaining compliance with health and environmental issues and fostering a positive work environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the organization and management of finished goods warehousing and transport across all regions of Big Rock operations
  • Develop and ensure all SOPs, Standard Work instructions, and all related quality documents are aligned with corporate and regulatory procedures and practices
  • Optimize capacity and resource by assigning and coordinating personnel, and scheduling to ensure workload is managed efficiently
  • Implement and monitor consistent performance metrics including reporting and analysis across all regions
  • Manage all carrier service agreements to ensure service levels and business expectations are being met
  • Develop and sustain a professional and productive relationship with liquor control agencies, customers, carriers, contractors, suppliers, internal departments and key stakeholders
  • Provide leadership to staff to ensure successful execution of assigned goals and objectives
  • Provide staff training, coaching and performance reviews
  • Develop and manage annual logistics and transportation budget for all locations
  • Provide monthly analysis and review of logistics expenses against budget and established service and freight cost metrics.
  • Perform ongoing analysis of outbound freight rates and expenditures and implement processes to reduce overall logistics cost through optimization
  • Establish ongoing improvement plans for freight management, vendor routing, and carrier management
  • Develop, implement, and monitor performance metrics for transportation, shipping and receiving
  • Develop a carrier selection strategy, prepare RFPs/RFQs as deemed necessary and conduct rate and service negotiations with current and potential carriers + other service providers.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts and service level agreements for carriers and/or service providers
  • Establish relationships with key regulatory (i.e., liquor commission) personnel and manage service levels of regulated or mandated third party warehouses.
  • Work closely with VP, Business Development to develop and leverage storage and distribution opportunities support on co-pack/contract manufacturing partners.
  • Manage the finished goods inventories across all locations, ensuring correct buffer inventory levels to satisfy customer demand fluctuations and minimize required working capital while maximizing fill rates and customer satisfaction
  • Ensure proper execution and documentation of product, packaging and shelf-life requirements
  • Liaise with sales team to determine finished goods shipping priorities and develop an operating plan which delivers these requirements daily and over the long term

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of direct work experience in a logistics and/or transport function, or supply chain management as a Manager or Supervisor
  • Post-secondary Degree /Diploma preferred; Logistics Program preferred
  • Direct working knowledge of operations, warehouse management, inventory control, and transportation management
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel and Word
  • Contract and service level agreement negotiation and management
  • Experience in managing third-party logistics providers
  • Previous experience with inventory control, ERP and WMS systems preferred
  • Relationship management experience with regulatory agencies preferred
  • Understanding of HACCP rules, regulations and procedures
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to coordinate and work well with various departments and locations
  • Proficiency in English Language
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good financial and business awareness
  • Strong written and verbal skills to communicate with all levels of the organization and its executive team.
  • Strong quantitative and critical thinking skills
  • Punctual with a strong work ethic
