The Position: Instrumentation & Electrical Technician -Installation, troubleshooting and repairing of all plant Instrument and Electrical equipment. This position is within the Sarnia Site bargaining unit and will be filled in accordance with article 14 of the collective agreement.

What you will do:

  • Problem solving and troubleshooting instrumentation issues.
  • Identification of reliability and optimization opportunities.
  • Develop and execute preventative maintenance programs for instrumentation and site electrical systems.
  • Assist in installation of new instrument & electrical equipment.
  • Maintain site instrument control systems including:
    • Level Transmitters
    • Level Switches
    • PLC’s
    • Furnace & Flare Ignition Systems
  • Interfacing with other discipline teams.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records within SAP.

What you will bring:

  • Technical diploma from ICET program or Provincial certification as I&E Technician.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience.
  • Related experience in calibration of site electronic and pneumatic instrumentation, which includes distributor process control, PLCs, Controllers, transmitters and control valves.
  • Working knowledge of engineering design specifications is required.
  • Sound instrument and electrical aptitude and technical knowledge.
  • Good interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize.
  • A demonstrated commitment to Health, Safety and Environmental principles. Demonstrated computer skills in SAP PPM module: SAP notifications, orders, PPM, and scheduling activities.
  • Must be able sit and stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be comfortable working from heights and confined spaces.
  • Must be able to climbstair cases, ladders and structures.
  • Must be able to bend, kneel, stoop and crawl periodically.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds periodically.
  • Medical clearance needed to wear a full face respirator.
  • Must be willing to work outdoors in all types of weather.
