Field Operations Technician for Air Separation

Position Overview:
The On-Site Air Separation Plant Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe, dependable, and efficient functioning of the air separation facility.
This position presents a unique opportunity for individuals to develop expertise in air separation technology, with comprehensive training provided. Candidates should possess a foundational understanding of mechanical systems, electrical systems, instrumentation, and process control operations. The technician is expected to be proactive, taking initiative in troubleshooting issues, planning maintenance activities, and overseeing site operations. Availability for on-call duties is required, including a rotating weekend schedule. Occasional travel may be necessary for training and support purposes, with travel time compensated. Ideally, candidates should reside within a reasonable commuting distance to their designated plant.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and compliance standards at all operational sites.
- Conduct routine maintenance and calibration on various process equipment, including compressors, gas analyzers, and control systems.
- Effectively manage time to achieve operational objectives and complete both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks.
- Coordinate with contractors and internal resources to facilitate audits and fulfill administrative obligations.
- Enhance plant production and operational efficiency.
- Engage in self-directed training to deepen understanding of job responsibilities and technical skills.
- Assist in the training and development of new team members as needed.
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Strong safety awareness and commitment to procedural compliance.
- Effective troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Proficient in maintenance and repair techniques.
- Ability to interpret process and instrumentation diagrams.
- Familiarity with computer systems and software applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Self-motivated with a focus on continuous learning and improvement.
Working Conditions:
This role requires physical capabilities including driving, walking on various surfaces, and performing manual tasks. The technician will be expected to work both in an office setting and on-site, engaging in activities that may involve lifting and using tools and equipment.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma is required; an Associate degree in a technical field is preferred.
- 2 to 5 years of relevant operational experience in fields such as air separation, industrial maintenance, or HVAC is highly desirable.
