If you are an entrepreneurial individual who enjoys sharing strategy and best practices for growth by collaborating internally and connecting externally with individuals and privately held businesses, then this opportunity is ideal for you.Key opportunity — a career in the PHB Group with Doane Grant Thornton will provide you an opportunity to: Work with a team of professionals who assist individuals and businesses with a wide range of accounting, tax and financial services Be part of a unique work culture that challenges you to further your professional development and provides significant opportunity for advancement to manager and beyond Be part of a fast-growing environment with well-respected professionals who are locally renowned in their respective field Develop solutions with clients and colleagues through collaborative effort and discussion Be engaged with clients on a variety of local and regional projects ResponsibilitiesAs a Manager, Privately Held Business Group your responsibilities will include: Leading and executing client engagements under varying reporting frameworks across different industries and sectors but with a focus on Canadian Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) Contributing to new business development by understanding all Doane Grant Thornton services and by using your credibility in the field Acting as a leader by actively contributing to the development and execution of the office business plan Maximizing engagement profitability by effectively utilizing engagement resources Analysis and review of corporate and personal income tax returns, compilations, reviews and special reports Planning and leading teams to ensure that client expectations are exceeded Supervision and mentoring of an accounting team, including the review of files Engaging, coaching and developing talented professionals within the practice to maximize their potential for growth Qualifications Strong background with reviewing and leading compilation and review engagements and working with owner managed clients within a public practice scope Excellent general tax skills and the ability to identify tax issues Strong people management focus and coaching orientation Strong personal and professional brand in the marketplace Being an articulate, inspiring and versatile communicator Commitment to quality, excellence and continual professional growth for yourself and for those you manage At least 5 years’ experience in public accounting or related industry Completed CPA designation is required What’s in it for you?Profit sharing, Flex days, RRSP contributions, Firmwide holiday closure, Wellness benefits, Concierge-like benefits, Work from anywhere in Canada in the summer for 4 weeks, and moreOur special culture shines through when we have the opportunity to connect in person. To get the conversation started, we’re happy to share that our current base salary for this role ranges from $85,000 - $95,000 in Nanaimo, BC.
