JOB SUMMARY The Director, Nuclear Business & Governance is accountable to provide strategic leadership and direction across governance, organizational, functional and financial structuring, stakeholder engagement, and external relations. As a member of SaskPower’s Senior Management team, this position is responsible to plan, organize, direct, and control the division’s business, governance, and strategic readiness activities to ensure alignment with SaskPower’s corporate goals. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Allocate material, human, and financial resources in order to implement corporate policies and programs, including the establishment of financial and administrative controls for governance, business planning, stakeholder relations, and communications functions. Conduct and participate in strategic planning sessions independently or in conjunction with senior leadership in order to set measurable targets for governance, organizational design, business readiness, and external engagement. Proactively anticipate, resolve, and prevent divisional issues related to governance, organizational transitions, stakeholder and rightsholder engagement, financial structuring, and government expectations using creative and practical solutions. Manage departmental resources effectively by identifying efficiencies and best practices for governance, communications, business systems, and strategic planning, with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement. Deliver presentations to SaskPower’s Executive, Board of Directors, Government committees, Indigenous Nations, industry partners, and/or financial institutions regarding governance issues, policies, strategic plans, budgets, and nuclear business initiatives. Oversee and manage the proactive engagement and professional development of leadership staff, including managers and senior advisors, ensuring adequate and appropriate succession planning within the Nuclear Business & Governance department. Promote a proud and productive environment for all employees by fostering engagement and establishing and modelling corporate values, while ensuring a nuclear safety culture that reflects accountability, collaboration, and strategic alignment. Represent SaskPower and the Nuclear Division as a primary Director level liaison to government, Indigenous Nations, utilities, national and international nuclear organizations, and external partners, ensuring strong relationships that support nuclear development in Saskatchewan. Lead the development and oversight of governance frameworks, management systems, and organizational structures. Ensure that divisional business planning, financial modelling, integrated management system development, and strategic communications activities are effectively coordinated and executed. Oversee and manage the proactive engagement and professional development of leadership staff, ensuring adequate and appropriate succession planning Promote a proud and productive environment for all employees by fostering engagement and establishing and modelling corporate core values Other related duties as assigned KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Social Sciences or Humanities, or other related discipline AND/OR; Related professional designation(s) and/or certification(s) AND/OR; Ten (10) years of progressive experience in governance, strategy, government relations, corporate planning, capital planning, or major transitions within a large organization, government, or utility setting. Exceptional written and oral communication skills; proven ability to prepare high quality briefing materials for Executive, Board, and government audiences. Demonstrated experience in organizational design, strategic planning, major project finance, management systems, and Board level governance. Strong understanding of the Canadian nuclear industry context and regulatory environment, including governance and reporting expectations. Ability to build effective relationships and negotiate with senior officials, Indigenous Nations, partners, and regulators using diplomacy and political acuity. Strategic thinker with the ability to manage confidential and sensitive issues with professionalism. Ability to lead change and foster a high performance, values based culture. Demonstrated skill in SaskPower’s competencies. Must have a continuing record of professional development.
