Senior Compliance Auditor Competition: TEMP2026:02 Two full-time, temporary positions until March 31, 2028. Applicants external to the BC Public Service - hired under the Election Act – Project Analyst - $42.90 per hour (plus 6% vacation pay and bi-weekly compensation allowance for health and welfare). All staff work in office full time during electoral events. Our office is located conveniently on the edge of downtown Victoria away from the hustle and bustle of the city, but close enough to walk to coffee shops, restaurants and amenities. Please note the following are vacation blackout dates for the 2026 General Local Elections: November 2 – 6, 2026; January 4 – 29, 2027; February 1 – 5, 2027. There is limited time off from February 8, 2027, to April 30, 2027, based on team structure and workload. Job Requirements To be considered for this position, you must legally be eligible to work in Canada. Eligibility to work in Canada is granted through citizenship, permanent resident status, or a work permit. Education and experience A professional accounting designation (i.e. Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and a minimum of 2 years recent related experience within the last 5 years); OR An international accounting designation (CPA) with eligibility for membership in good standing with CPA BC and a minimum of 2 years recent related experience within the last 5 years); OR An internal audit designation (i.e. CIA) and a minimum of 2 years recent related experience within the last 5 years); OR Enrollment in the CPA or CIA designations and degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or related field and a minimum of 3 years recent related experience within the last 5 years. Recent, related experience must include: Experience conducting audits (financial statement, performance, or internal audits), including responsibility for planning, conducting, and reporting of audit/assurance activities. Interpreting complex legislation, policy and/or procedures. Providing expert advice, guidance and/or assistance to stakeholders or members of the public, by phone, in writing and/or in person. Analyzing large amounts of data to conduct audit procedures and support decision making. Experience applying tact and diplomacy, and the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders who may be uncooperative and/or lack an understanding of financial disclosure and regulatory requirements. Knowledge of Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Canadian Auditing Standards (CAS). Preference may be given to applicants with: Previous experience working for Elections BC or another electoral management body. Experience with compliance and regulatory audits.
