Job Description Driver Safety Specialist Full-Time Brampton, ON As the Driver Safety Specialist (DSS), you will facilitate driver safety education & remedial training programs. You will be required to identify unsafe habits and behaviors and coordinate solutions to lessen or eliminate future non‑compliance or unsafe actions. How You’ll Help Establish regular meetings with all drivers. Accompany drivers to observe and evaluate driving behaviours and skills for compliance with provincial and D&R requirements (logbook, speed, inspections, etc.). Meet targets for company safety policies, driver attendance at safety meetings, and accident costs. Maintain driver and supervisory personnel adherence to legislated safety laws. Help create safety‑training material to facilitate education of safety legislations. Maintain and update data input on multiply PC programs. Effectively maintain professional attitude and be a source of solutions or guidance for all issues. Remain on call for and attend accidents/collisions as company representative to complete all required reports. Complete required work in all weather conditions year round as needed. Be able to communicate to individuals/groups in a classroom setting and set up/utilize education tools (e.g., laptop, LCD projector, handouts); maintain decorum, gain feedback and track progress. Commercial Driver's License is preferred with a clean record. Facilitate LCV permit review training with new operations team members when required. Other related duties as may be required. Your Skills And Experience Commercial driver’s license required (AZ/Class 1). Minimum Secondary School completion and completion of all required safety related programs (e.g., Winter Driving, Air Brakes, Hazardous Loads). Post‑secondary training in logistics or business, an asset. A suitable combination of education and experience may be considered. Previous transportation or operational experience preferred; various roles within transportation beneficial. Preference given to applicants with Occupational Health and Safety experience. Communication skills – advanced. Computer skills – accuracy, MS products, AS400, web‑based programs. Knowledge related to legal/safe operation of commercial equipment with local laws and federal compliance standards. Demonstrated customer relationship skills. Knowledge of Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations. Analytical and problem‑solving skills. Effective written and communication skills. Attention to detail and high level of accuracy. Strong conflict resolution. Able to work deadlines in high transactional environment. Presentation skills and working knowledge of adult learning principles.
