Job Details Position Title: Training and Development Specialist Status: FT Admin (temporary) – 12 months Hours: 37.5 hours per week Faculty/Department: Office of Research and Innovation Campus/Location: North Campus Salary: $77,741 About the Office of Research & Innovation Humber Polytechnic’s Research and Innovation department serves as a vibrant centre for creativity, collaboration, and transformative ideas. We prioritize building strong partnerships and engaging with stakeholders to drive impactful initiatives. About the Training and Development Specialist Role Reporting to the Director of Research and Programs, the incumbent will lead the development, implementation, and improvement of various Office of Research and Innovation (ORI) engagement initiatives, including building awareness of EDI best practices. The role embeds EDI principles into ORI training modules for faculty researchers, ORI staff and student research assistants, champions data‑driven initiatives, creates new student support programs, and builds the ORI capacity for applied research. Key Responsibilities Conduct training needs analysis, program development, vendor selection, program delivery and evaluation. Support trainers and training coaches in executing training programs. Provide input into the development of the annual training catalogue. Review existing training material for appropriateness and relevance, modifying where necessary. Collaborate with Resource Manager to develop and deliver new hire training, onboarding, and professional development programs. Identify learning challenges and new educational needs with managers and research leads. Manage training program logistics: printing materials, enrolments, cancellations, waiting lists, and attendance records. Facilitate training sessions when required. Collect and analyse training metrics to evaluate effectiveness. Support the development and delivery of specialized programs such as orientations and training events. Continuously review and enhance training delivery methods, including technology‑driven approaches. Work with the Director, Research and Programs on budget for training and development initiatives. Develop and administer a student mentorship programme, ensuring seamless advising and mentorship services. Steer equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) initiatives within ORI. Develop and implement targeted EDI training programmes. Track feedback, funding, and updates to training policies and procedures. Education General Bachelor’s Degree Experience / Skills Minimum 3 years’ experience in a related field. Understanding of post‑secondary education and diverse student populations. Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in a high‑learning environment. Excellent multi‑tasking and prioritisation skills. Superior research and writing skills. Experience with evaluation and assessment measures. Project planning and coordination. Advanced computer skills: MS Office, SPSS, Outlook. Customer‑service and interpersonal skills. Diplomacy and confidentiality. Strong organisational, time‑management, and facilitation skills. Knowledgeable in advising approaches. Strong negotiation and conflict‑resolution skills.
