What will you work on?
In accordance with the vision and values of the organization, the Coordinator utilizes the principles of best-practices and data collection criteria of the American College of Surgeons, National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (ACS NSQIP), in providing specialized clinical expertise to the Surgical Services leadership team and facilitates the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of surgical clinical initiatives to improve surgical patient care and outcomes in conjunction with the clinical leads.
Supervises NSQIP staff and is accountable for the overall collection, compilation, documentation and submission of data to the international NSQIP database. Responsible for the development and effectiveness of policies, procedures, protocols and standards to improve surgical patient care and outcomes utilizing NSQIP criteria and methodologies in consultation with the Director (or designate) and leadership team; monitors, evaluates and recommends policy/protocol improvements on an ongoing basis. Identifies opportunities for surgical clinical quality improvement and presents findings, interpretation of outcomes and makes recommendations for surgical quality improvements. Provides high quality screening, in-depth analysis and data interpretation.
Represents the ACS NSQIP on administrative internal/external committees; liaises with provincial, national and international health care agencies.

Qualfications
Education, Training and Experience:
Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
Three (3) years of recent related clinical experience in an acute care in-patient surgical nursing environment, supplemented by additional training/education in statistical analysis, quality improvement methodologies and patient safety and two years recent teaching experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
