Risk Management Specialist

Contract Duration: 1 year with an option to extend the contract by 2 years in 1 year increments
Working Hours: 40 hours per week
Job Title: Risk Management Specialist
Responsibilities:
Lead project risk workshops and meetings to identify, assess, and prioritize risks, and develop appropriate response strategies for the Project Risk Register.
Support project management teams in implementing and maintaining risk management practices, including developing risk registers, running risk profiles, and establishing confidence levels for outcomes.
Regularly review risk registers with project teams at various stages to ensure effective risk management and provide updates to project management.
Conduct qualitative and quantitative risk analysis to inform decision-making processes.
Compile risk information and generate quarterly reports for project managers.
Contribute to the development of risk management procedures and work instructions.
Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum of five (5) years of full-time experience as a Project Risk Professional, preferably in civil infrastructure or construction projects.
Proficiency in reviewing technical documents (e.g., drawings, design basis, schedules, estimates) to identify project scope and risks.
Demonstrated experience in leading and facilitating risk workshops.
Hands-on experience in data collection and qualitative and quantitative risk analysis.
Solid understanding of basic engineering and construction methodologies.
Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
Familiarity with the Ontario Human Rights Code and related accessibility requirements is preferred.
Education and Certifications:
Completion of a post-secondary college diploma or university degree in an engineering-related discipline, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Certification from industry-leading organizations such as PMI or AACE in Risk Management is considered an asset.
