IAMGOLD is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director, Metallurgy to lead and oversee the strategic direction of metallurgical operations across Canada and Burkina Faso. Reporting to the Vice President of Technical Services, this role is critical in providing technical expertise to drive improvements in metallurgical performance across IAMGOLD’s processing plants. The Director, Metallurgy will focus on enhancing throughput, recovery, and concentrate grades through continuous improvement, growth projects, and the integration of technology and innovation. As a technical expert, this individual will govern metallurgical practices and standards, support the design and implementation of new processes and technologies, and serve as the qualified person for NI43-101 filings.

The Director will play an essential role in mentoring operational leadership and metallurgy teams, ensuring that IAMGOLD’s engineering and operational standards are consistently applied across all projects and operating sites. In addition, they will oversee metallurgical project deliverables, collaborating with other engineering disciplines to ensure alignment and integration across teams. The role involves leading metallurgical test work initiatives, developing process design criteria, and driving innovation to maximize plant performance while minimizing costs. Collaboration with various departments, such as Mining and Geology, will be key to optimizing project criteria and enhancing economic value.

The incumbent will support existing and future operations by ensuring compliance with IAMGOLD's best practices, reviewing plant performance for continuous improvement opportunities, and guiding operations personnel. Additionally, they will be responsible for technical support in effluent treatment and tailings management, assisting in the design and optimization of water treatment systems and ensuring cost-effective management of discharges.

What You Need to Succeed

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in mining metallurgy, with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mineral processing, metallurgical engineering, or a related field. Strong project management, communication, interpersonal, decision-making, and problem-solving skills are key to success in this role, as is the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels. Fluency in English is required, and fluency in French is an asset. Regular travel to operational sites (approximately 25-30% annually) will be required.

Based out of IAMGOLD's corporate office in Toronto, this position offers flexible working arrangements with a hybrid approach, including in office days Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
