Our client, a major Oil and Gas company, is looking for an Instrumentation Specialist to join their team in Fort Saskatchewan on a contract opportunity until the end of 2025.An Instrumentation Specialist is responsible for the installation, maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of instrumentation and control systems within a petrochemical facility. This role ensures that all instrumentation and control systems are functioning efficiently and safely, contributing to the overall productivity and safety of the plant. We are specifically looking for candidates with instrumentation design experience and a strong background in Management of Change (MOC) processes within an operating facility.Key Responsibilities:Perform regular maintenance and calibration of instrumentation equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all instrumentation systems.Diagnose and repair instrumentation and control system malfunctions.Provide technical support and guidance to operations and maintenance teams.Maintain accurate records of all instrumentation work, including maintenance logs, calibration records, and repair reports.Prepare and submit detailed reports on system performance and any issues encountered.Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with safety regulations and company policies.Participate in safety audits and contribute to the development of safety procedures.Provide technical support during plant startups, shutdowns, and turnarounds.Assist in the development of training programs for plant personnel on instrumentation and control systems.Identify opportunities for improving instrumentation and control processes.Collaborate with engineering teams to implement process improvements and upgrades.Lead or support instrumentation design initiatives, ensuring integration with existing systems and compliance with operational requirements.Manage and execute changes through the MOC process, ensuring all modifications are assessed for safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Relevant certifications in instrumentation and control systems are a plus.Minimum of 5 years of experience in instrumentation within the petrochemical or related industry.Strong knowledge of instrumentation and control systems, including PLCs, DCS, SCADA, and HMI.Experience in instrumentation design within an operating facility.Proficiency in the Management of Change (MOC) process, including documentation and implementation of changes.Proficiency in reading and interpreting P&IDs, electrical schematics, and technical manuals.Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
