Peterborough Community Health Centre (PCHC) is a brand-new dynamic community-based health centre, promoting social justice and health equity through a model of care that incorporates both western and traditional approaches. PCHC is one of several in our Province, providing primary health care and social and community outreach services with an emphasis on health promotion and illness prevention. With a mission to improve the lives of people who face barriers to physical, mental, spiritual and social well-being, PCHC incorporates the Indigenous way of life promoting good health through a life of balance and harmony.
Position Overview: The Indigenous Health Equity and Wellness Coordinator plays a vital role in promoting health equity, cultural safety, and wellness initiatives for Indigenous communities. This position collaborates with Indigenous peoples, community organizations, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to identify barriers, develop culturally appropriate programs, and advocate for systemic change in health services.

Minimum Requirements:
- Degree or diploma in Public Health, Indigenous Studies, Social Work, Health Promotion, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience working with local Indigenous communities in health promotion or a related role.
- Lived experience as an Indigenous person and/or strong understanding of Indigenous cultures, histories, and contemporary issues is preferred.
- Knowledge of community resources, especially health and social services.
- Proficiency in computer use (Microsoft Office, EMR, Internet, and email).
