Position Summary BCIT’s School of Energy is seeking a regular, full-time (1.0 FTE ) Instructor to prepare and deliver courses in the Telecommunication Systems Technician program. Duties & Responsibilities The areas of instruction will focus on electronics foundations and networking but also include telecommunication systems and/ or radio frequency systems. The subject matter delivered includes both theory and practical skills. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS : Diploma or Degree in Wireless Communications or Telecommunications or a related discipline. Minimum 5 years of recent work experience as a telecommunications specialist. Proficient in hand skills and use of hand tools as required for the telecommunications industry. Recent experience with Internet Protocol based network configuration and programming. Network certification such as CCNA is desirable. Skills and abilities to instruct the curriculum. Current computer literacy required (MS Word and Excel). Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Supervisory and leadership experience in industry preferred. Teaching credential is preferred or the willingness to enroll in the provincial instructor diploma program. Teaching experience is an asset. Demonstrated ability to work independently and in teams. We are seeking to hire an Instructor with strong expertise in: Structured cabling systems (copper and fiber installation, termination, and certification) Fiber optics (installation, splicing, testing, and industry standards) Networking (LAN / WAN fundamentals, IPv4/IPv6, switching and routing, Cisco NetAcad-level instruction). VoIP technologies (setup, configuration, and troubleshooting in lab and enterprise contexts) Experience with RF/wireless systems is considered an asset, but not a primary requirement at this time.
