BCGEU Faculty, Telecommunication Systems Technician

BCIT's School of Energy is seeking a regular, full-time (1.0 FTE) Instructor to prepare and deliver courses in the Telecommunication Systems Technician program.

Duties & Responsibilities

The areas of instruction will focus on electronics foundations and networking but also include telecommunication systems and/ or radio frequency systems. The subject matter delivered includes both theory and practical skills.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Diploma or Degree in Wireless Communications or Telecommunications or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of recent work experience as a telecommunications specialist.
• Proficient in hand skills and use of hand tools as required for the telecommunications industry.
• Recent experience with Internet Protocol based network configuration and programming.
• Network certification such as CCNA is desirable.
• Skills and abilities to instruct the curriculum.
• Current computer literacy required (MS Word and Excel).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Supervisory and leadership experience in industry preferred.
• Teaching credential is preferred or the willingness to enroll in the provincial instructor diploma program
• Teaching experience is an asset
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and in teams.
• We are seeking to hire an Instructor with strong expertise in:
• Structured cabling systems (copper and fiber installation, termination, and certification)
• Fiber optics (installation, splicing, testing, and industry standards)
• Networking (LAN/WAN fundamentals, IPv4/IPv6, switching and routing, Cisco NetAcad-level instruction).
• VoIP technologies (setup, configuration, and troubleshooting in lab and enterprise contexts)
• Experience with RF/wireless systems is considered an asset, but not a primary requirement at this time.

Salary Range

Salary Range: $78,133 - $115,805 per annum.

Salary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment.
