The scope includes navigating federal and provincial environmental regulatory processes and preparing information related to potential environmental and socio-economic effects of projects. EWPMs are responsible for the scope, schedule, budget and cost of their work package. The EWPM should consult with subject matter experts as required, while acting as the single environmental point of contact for the project or portfolio of projects. Close collaboration with Indigenous Relations counterparts is essential to developing accurate project schedules and delivering the respective scopes of work. You will work with IR on tasks and deliverables where Indigenous communities may have an interest.You will also support strengthening relationships with clients by collaborating on project teams, delivering environmental training, and proposing new ways to meet clients’ needs.Applicants should be knowledgeable of relevant standards, policies, practices and procedures, and able to exercise independent judgment in analysis and problem solving for highly complex and medium scope projects. Strong communication, leadership, and adapting communication style are essential. All team members should adopt a “One Hydro” approach and coach others on applying business knowledge.Duties may include, but are not limited to:Selecting, contracting and managing consultants to assist with environmental scope during all project phases.Strategically advising project teams on internal recommendation documents, including budget requests, contract requests, evaluations, business cases, and environmental strategy.Writing or leading development of project environmental requirements, including assessments of effects on fish and fish habitat, water quality and flow, wildlife, hazardous waste management, contaminated sites, socioeconomic interests, and archaeological and heritage resources.Advising on Indigenous, public, and stakeholder concerns around environmental risks.Acquiring environmental regulatory permits and liaising with regulators; advising on requirements and potential permit conditions.Ensuring work aligns with Environment department policies and processes.Providing guidance on BC Hydro systems and procedures (e.g., PPM, incident reporting, audits).Pro-actively managing own time to oversee project environmental risks across multiple capital projects.Other EWPM-related duties as required.What you bringA degree relevant to planning, environmental assessment and permitting, natural resources, engineering, geoscience, or equivalent experience.Professional designation in British Columbia (e.g., RP Bio, PAg, PEng) or eligibility.Minimum of eight years of progressive environmental experience.Project management courses/certification is a strong asset.Ability to manage relationships with leadership and external clients/stakeholders.Strong communication, facilitation, negotiation and interpersonal skills.Strong planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.Experience working with regulators, Indigenous communities, the public, and multi-disciplinary teams.Experience predicting and managing environmental risks of large-scale capital projects.Willingness to travel, sometimes to remote locations and outside normal hours.Must be authorized for BC Hydro PSSP and WPP.What we offerA minimum of 15 paid vacation daysFlexible work model, depending on role typeTraining and development coursesFor more information on benefits, visit bchydro.com/benefitsWhat else you should knowThis is a M&P, Group 44 full-time permanent opportunity at our Edmonds office in Burnaby, BC.Applicants may be required to complete a written test/assessment and/or a presentation as part of the interview process.Occasional travel around the province may be required.You must maintain a valid Class 5 Driver's License.How to applyInterested candidates should submit their applications online at https://app.bchydro.com/careers/current_opp.html or click Apply.On the BC Hydro Careers site, click Apply to complete the steps and update your Candidate Profile with your resume and certifications. #J-18808-Ljbffr
