The Engineer, Measurement provides engineering services to support the planning, design, installation, operation and maintenance of measurement and gas quality control systems. This includes the provision of technical services for engineering activities or project requirements, ensuring sound application of engineering practices, technological advancement and identification and recommendations of cost-effective, sustainable solutions to support departmental and corporate objectives.

Non-union - This position is permanent full time.

Key Accountabilities
  1. Develop and apply measurement and gas quality control standards, specifications, procedures and processes.
  2. Evaluate, test and implement new equipment and technologies.
  3. Prepare engineering designs, software implementations and business reports, ensuring effective provisions for public and employee safety in accordance with legislated requirements.
  4. Provide technical support by applying engineering principles in the investigation, analysis and resolution of measurement and gas quality control problems.
  5. Research relevant advances in technology, identify and recommend solutions and opportunities for optimizing measurement and gas quality systems.
  6. Provide interpretation and guidance regarding Measurement Canada Regulations to ensure compliance of corporate gas measurement operations.
  7. Participate in the creation of business cases for improvements to gas measurement facilities that result in standardized, more accurate and reliable measurement.
  8. Manage projects of a complex nature involving engineering design, construction and commissioning of facilities system improvements to ensure projects proceed safely and according to planned schedules.
  9. Communicate with stakeholders for group projects, ensuring they are informed of progress, schedule, outages and budget status.
  10. Provide technical support by applying advanced engineering principles in the investigation, analysis, recommendation and resolution of unique facility measurement problems.
  11. Develop and deliver advanced technical training for field and technical support personnel.
  12. Participate in the development and delivery of communications for facilitating change management of pipeline and facility measurement improvements.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  1. Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical or Electronic Systems Engineering preferred).
  2. Five (5) plus years of progressive engineering experience related to measurement and gas quality control systems.
  3. Ability to work on a team while building and maintaining effective relationships.
  4. An Engineer-in-training may also be considered as a path to advance to a Professional Engineer.
Additional Information
  1. Travel, including overnight stays away from bid headquarters may be required.
  2. A Class 5 Driver's license is required.
