Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a wide range of client-facing engagements including Compilation Engagements, Tax Compliance, and Consulting Engagements.
  • Commit to continuous learning and problem-solving independently.
  • Think strategically about client needs by understanding their business and key risks in order to provide solutions to their unique situation.
  • Maintain high-quality control through self-review.
  • Coach, train, and supervise junior staff through client engagements and consulting projects.
  • Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes.
  • Identify ways to maximize the relationship with clients and deliver added value.
  • Liaise and correspond professionally with clients, colleagues, business partners, and the CRA.
  • Prepare and review junior staff's T2 Returns, Compilation Engagements, T1 Returns, GST/HST Returns, and T-slip filings.
  • Maintain high-quality control when reviewing work completed by the team.
  • Monitor project timelines against targets at a high-level, advise clients of project status, and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Assist in the recruitment of potential clients and junior staff.

What You Bring:

  • Completion of a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • At least 4-5 years of work experience in an accounting firm with tax experience.
  • A postsecondary diploma with a focus in Accounting.
  • Strong mentorship ability to lead junior staff.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational and project management skills.
  • A positive attitude and commitment to learning and contributing to the organization.
  • A desire to maintain a healthy work-life balance.
  • Strong ethics and the ability to cope under pressure.
  • Strong understanding of business and accounting/tax principles.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment. Being a team player is an absolute must.
  • Strong computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Excel, and an ability to learn quickly to become familiar with cloud-based accounting systems.
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online and relevant cloud-based applications.
  • Dedication and motivation to achieve high standards of client service.
  • The willingness to be challenged mentally and the courage to offer up new ideas and suggestions.
  • Must be able to provide a criminal background record check and at least two references.
