Join to apply for the Senior Advisor role at Energy and Mines | Énergie et des MinesEffective April 1, 2025, the new salary range for this position will be $84,478 to $124,487 per year in accordance with the AMAPCEO collective agreement provisions.Consider this position in the Electricity Policy, Economics and System Planning Branch where you will lead energy system planning analysis and provide policy advice, expertise and consultation.Please note, the position requires working in‑office 4 days a week and will be transitioning to working 5 days in‑office per week starting January 5, 2026.ResponsibilitiesProvide qualitative and quantitative analysis of Ontario's electricity systemForecast electricity supply and demand and analyze cost and environmental impactsAssist the development of comprehensive energy models and maintain the integrity of dataParticipate in electricity resource procurement activitiesProvide advice to senior management on trends, developments, and economic impact of Ontario's electricity systemRepresent the ministry with internal and external stakeholdersWhat you bring to the teamSpecialized KnowledgeYou have knowledge of:The theories, principles, and methodologies of economics and its application to the energy sector.The broad economic, environmental, legal and political issues underlying policy development in the energy sector specifically related to the demand, supply, pricing and competitiveness of electricity in Ontario.Operation of electricity markets in Ontario and neighbouring jurisdictions.Analytical and Research SkillsYou have:The ability to conduct research, including economic, statistical and financial analysis.The ability to evaluate options and alternatives in terms of economics, cost analysis, practicality, and impacts on the province's electricity system.Demonstrated the ability to develop and present options and recommendations supporting effective senior management decision‑making.Policy and Program Development KnowledgeYou have experience:With policy and program development principles and techniques to lead or participate in policy/program development options.Using program evaluation techniques to assess the effectiveness of new/changed policies and programs and provide recommendations.Interpersonal and Consultation SkillsProvide advice and interpretation of policy, legislation, program development, and related issues to senior management and internal/external stakeholders on decisions affecting ministry policies and programs.Build positive relationships and consensus with a variety of stakeholders in support of collaborative initiatives.Provide briefings to senior ministry officials through presentations, briefing notes and reports.Use written and oral communication skills to respond to issues, provide recommendations, prepare reports, Cabinet submissions, briefing materials and correspondence.Use software programs and tools to research and prepare materials and analyses.Leadership and Project Management SkillsYou have:Experience in project management to lead and provide direction and guidance to multi‑disciplinary, cross‑sectorial project teams.Leadership skills to manage workflow of the branch and represent the ministry/province on intergovernmental forums and working groups.Don't meet every qualification?If you are excited about this position and meet most, but not all, of the listed qualifications, please still consider applying.
