Job Summary

The Account Manager is responsible for developing the business of Graybar by prospecting new customers and creating mutually beneficial opportunities. This role delivers high-quality customer care, meeting corporate objectives and revenue goals.

Main Responsibilities

  1. This is a 'hunting' role that seeks new customers in the territory to secure profitable business while maintaining and developing relationships with current customers.
  2. Attain revenue targets per Business Plan.
  3. Promote and sell Graybar Canada products and services to existing customers.
  4. Prepare estimates and quote pricing, credit terms, warranties, and delivery dates.
  5. Participate in training sessions, trade shows, and sales meetings as required.
  6. Create and execute an AMP (Account Management Program) ensuring appropriate sales coverage of assigned accounts.
  7. Create and execute a CSP (Core Supplier Plan) increasing core supplier product sales through account targeting and co-operative activities.
  8. Team up with other Graybar sales specialists where appropriate to leverage total Graybar solution capability.
  9. Ensure compliance with company sales policy.
  10. Strive for continuous growth and improvement.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Related diploma/degree in a technical or business discipline.
  • Three years of relevant sales or industry experience.
  • Must have a passion for sales and a 'hunter' mentality when driving new business.
  • Knowledge of electrical wholesale industry is considered an asset.
  • Exhibits excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong negotiating skills.
  • Skilled at assessing client needs, developing proposals, and delivering solutions.
  • Knowledge of wholesale sales principles, methods, practices, and techniques.
  • Able to prioritize work and be flexible and work independently.
  • Ability to write clear and concise value proposition statements.
  • Consistently able to meet deadlines competently and in a timely fashion.
  • Possesses strong relationship-building skills to cultivate and develop customer loyalty.
  • Practice excellent spoken and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
