Includes maintaining cleanliness of assigned facilities for approved GTAA deicing operationsPerform landscape maintenance tasks on airside and groundside at approved GTAA deicing operations areas. i. e. grass cutting, maintenance of flower beds, turf maintenance and maintenance of trees, shrubs and other plant materialsOperate a variety of deicing equipment designed for airports to control ice and snow contamination at the approved GTAA deicing operations areaThis unionized position has an hourly wage of $37. 86 based on a 40-hour work week. The successful candidate must be available to commence the duties of the position once a selection decision has been made. A test may be administered as a part of the competitive process.Candidates with relevant external experience must provide references with their applications in order to confirm this experience.This is the role for you, if you have:Completion of Grade 12 or equivalentExperience in Aircraft Deicing Operations and the operation of heavy equipment is considered an assetValid Provincial Driver’s G License RequiredThe successful incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a D/A class AVOP permit within thirty (30) days of appointment to the positionMust be able to obtain Confined space certificationMust be able to obtain and retain a Transport Security ClearanceKnowledge and skills you bring, that set-you up for success:Ability to multi-task in order to deal with multiple radios and multiple functions on the equipmentAbility to work outside in all types of weather and lift varied amounts of weight for extended periods of timeKnowledge of Aircraft Deicing and related deicing equipment required to perform deicing tasks and recover spent fluidKnowledge of Aircraft operations, flight surfaces, and basic principles of flightKnowledge of Operation, mechanics, inspection and regular maintenance of deicing equipment, aircraft deicing equipment and glycol recovery equipment and supporting equipmentKnowledge of Equipment operation such as trimmers, mowers, power toolsKnowledge of situational awareness of practices for operating in a safe environmentKnowledge of Airfield and groundside layout and Maneuvering on airfield.Knowledge of spills containment procedures and knowledge of reporting process for Asphalt, concrete and gravel repair and maintenance workKnowledge of fence, gate and sign repair practicesKnowledge of landscape maintenance techniques for approved GTAA deicing operations areasKnowledge of ISO 14001 related procedures, Hazmat and Transportation of Dangerous GoodsAbility to work airside and at heightsDemonstrated interpersonal and problem solving skillsAbility to work 12 hour rotational shift work (days, nights and weekends) and be on standbyThe GTAA is committed to Employment Equity and maintaining a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive.
