The Mustard Seed is seeking a proactive and goal-oriented Communications Coordinator in Kamloops, BC.Reporting to the Communications Manager, the Communications Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing a communications strategy for The Mustard Seed that will raise awareness of the issues of poverty and homelessness in Western Canada.Employment Type: Regular Part-TimeSchedule: 24 hours per week, scheduled Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.Reporting to: Communications ManagerWage: $28,000.00 AnnuallyMAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESClearly communicate the mission, vision, core values, and story of The Mustard Seed with both internal (staff, volunteers, community) and external (donors, media, businesses, agencies, churches) audiencesPrepare timely communications materials and promotional items in support of programming, fundraising, and special events for KamloopsProvide support for social media and storytelling for The Mustard Seed by creating content (photos, videos, and copy when needed) - KamloopsMaintain media database and public contacts for disseminating informationAssist with key messaging for media releases, public service announcements, media kits, etc. - KamloopsAssist in the production of organizational videos as required for promotional purposesAssist with writing stories and research for newsletters and campaignsCoordinating and posting content for SeedLinks (quarterly digital newsletter) and SeedShare (Staff Intranet)Support events with communication and logistical needsParticipate as a team in communication strategy and planningAssist with communications projects as neededOther duties as may be assignedMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLSA passion for being part of ending homelessness in Western Canada and a desire to serve those who are experiencing homelessness and extreme povertyPost-secondary education in marketing or communications or a related fieldTwo years or more of public relations/marketing experienceSelf-motivated, proactive, energetic, and goal-oriented with superior interpersonal skillsExcellent written and oral communication skillsSkilled in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and PowerPointKnowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is considered an assetAbility to work independently and as part of a teamAbility to manage multiple projects with competing deadlinesPrevious experience working in a not-for-profit organization is highly desirableValid driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, and clean driver’s abstractWORKING CONDITIONSHybrid with some weekend and evening work may be requiredMonthly travel to Medicine Hat may be requiredOffice environment—more mental than physical—extensive periods of sedentary workFast-paced and demanding work environmentDriver’s Abstract and Employment Security Check is requiredAs The Mustard Seed is a Christian ministry, we require our employees to agree and sign our Statement of FaithMust have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than the current employerADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTSAn Employment Background Check is required for all positions at The Mustard SeedAs The Mustard Seed is a Christian ministry, we require our employees to agree to respect and not detract from The Mustard Seed’s Employment Values during their employment at The Mustard Seed.Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employerCOMPENSATION & BENEFITSThe Mustard Seed offers a competitive compensation package including 100% employer paid extended health and dental benefits for staff and dependents.All The Mustard Seed employees have access to the Employee and Family Assistance Program, which provides support for maintaining a healthy work-life balance, addressing mental health concerns, and focusing on personal development in various areas.NOTEYour privacy is important to us.
