We are currently recruiting a Legal Assistant to join our Intellectual Property Department in our Ottawa office. The successful candidate will provide administrative support to a team of Patent Litigation Associates and Articling Students, in addition to a team of Legal Assistants. The successful candidate must demonstrate initiative, high attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. The position requires very strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in addition to strong client service skills, and organization. Position Requirements Education and Experience The successful incumbent will have a Community College Certificate in a Legal Secretarial Assistant program or equivalent. Ideal candidate would possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in a Legal Secretarial Assistant role. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience is acceptable. Knowledge and Skills Strong communication, organizational and technical skills (MS Office suite). Extensive knowledge of Canadian Patent Litigation would be an asset. Proactive, and work well in both a team and independent work environment. Show initiative and display an interest in developing their knowledge of this practice area. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Impeccable attention to detail is required. We are currently working in a hybrid work arrangement, which includes a requirement to work primarily in the Ottawa office and flexibility to work remotely up to 2 days per week.
