Job Description Senior Construction Manager – Water Business Line (Large, multi‑disciplinary projects) Location: Coquitlam, BC. Full‑time onsite during normal construction hours; occasional night and weekend work may be required. Reports directly to the Project Director and interacts daily with the Client, Project Management Team (PMT), and Engineer of Record (EOR). Responsibilities Direct field engineering team and interface with in‑office engineers‑of‑record and discipline leads. Prepare project progress reports and coordinate all construction submittals. Direct client, PMT coordination and timely delivery of responses to submittals, RFIs, RFCs, COs, etc. Monitor and report QA/QC compliance and overall quality system. Recommend contracting strategies. Review, coordinate, and adjudicate all construction submittals. Collaborate with EOR discipline leads on design changes and construction submittals. Negotiate change orders related to design changes. Notify PMT of any work that does not conform to contract documents. Document all construction meetings onsite (daily tailgate/safety, weekly construction, etc.). Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field. 10+ years’ professional experience in design and construction engineering. Professional Engineer (P.Eng, PE, or CEng) or CA/CM. Senior leadership on projects with capital value >$100 million CDN. Valid BC driver’s license and access to a vehicle. Preferred Qualifications 15+ years’ experience in design and/or construction engineering, specifically during construction. Senior leadership on multiple projects with capital value >$250 million CDN. Experience with projects under litigation. Experience with Owner Supplied materials and construction cost estimating. Supervised at least five completed construction projects, each >$100 million CDN, with at least one in water/wastewater. Held a lead role (e.g., Lead Technical Engineer/Project Manager/Engineer‑of‑Record/Construction Manager) on at least two of those projects. Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills. Ability to lead teams, respond to changing demands, stay decisive under pressure, and remain calm when interfacing with internal and external personnel. Experience in construction contract administration and/or management. Strong knowledge of applicable codes and regulations. Additional Information Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position. Compensation Annual base range: CAD 150,000 – 200,000, based on education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
