Maintenance Manager

Overview The Maintenance Manager oversees all maintenance activities within the plant, ensuring equipment, machinery, and facilities operate in optimal condition. The role includes managing a team of supervisors and technicians, developing maintenance procedures, and coordinating with other departments to support production efficiency and safety. Responsibilities Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment life. Oversee routine maintenance, repairs, and equipment installations to meet standards. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and safety compliance. Manage, train, and mentor a team of maintenance supervisors and technicians. Assign tasks, monitor progress, and provide feedback to maintain high performance. Ensure all production equipment operates efficiently and safely; coordinate with production to schedule maintenance without disrupting schedules. Maintain building infrastructure, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems. Implement and enforce safety protocols and stay current with regulations related to food manufacturing. Conduct safety inspections and audits, addressing issues promptly. Develop and manage the maintenance budget, identify cost savings, negotiate supplier contracts. Analyze performance metrics, implement best practices, support operational excellence. Work non‑standard hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required. Perform all other duties as assigned. Minimum Job Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Maintenance Management, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance management within the food manufacturing industry. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Proficient use of Microsoft Office and maintenance management software. Strong leadership and interdepartmental collaboration skills. In‑depth knowledge of food manufacturing processes and regulatory requirements. Excellent problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Proficient in leasing maintenance software and other relevant applications. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement; ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize projects. Supervisory Responsibilities Manage a team of Maintenance Supervisors and Technicians. Supervise work performance, make final hiring and disciplinary decisions, evaluate program effectiveness, and realign staffing as needed. Define functional responsibilities of direct reports to achieve best‑in‑class output. Working Conditions & Physical Effort Office and manufacturing facility environment. Exposure to dust, fumes, odors, noise, vibration, poor lighting, and weather elements. Physical risks with mechanical equipment, forklifts, chemical and electrical hazards, and communicable diseases. Ability to stand, walk throughout plant, lift up to 50 lbs, use dexterity, and perform kneeling, crawling, twisting daily.
