Responsible for planning, directing, coordinating and controlling the Maintenance functions of the Plant. This includes but is not limited to asset purchase, facility expansion or downsizing, and maintenance software programs, facility security and electronic systems and projects as needed. Overall responsibility for the safety and machine guarding programs, machine and equipment changes and modifications, asset management, and Maintenance budgets, facility environmental issues, plant layout and design, machine and equipment design, record keeping and maintenance of all bakery and packaging equipment.

**Description of duties & responsibilities**:

- Provide technical support/trouble-shooting advice to Maintenance/Production personnel.
- Review Preventative Maintenance program, determine where changes or improvements are necessary and make recommendations regarding changes and improvements.
- Maintain the maintenance room and all equipment.
- Source equipment/parts suppliers to obtain quotes.
- Liaise with Production Department to co-ordinate scheduling of downtime for equipment repairs or modifications.
- Participate in monthly safety committee meetings.
- Review Maintenance Department’s Key Performance Indicators (KPI), including reduction of downtime and skills/talent development of Maintenance team.
- Monitor and approve purchases for the Maintenance Department.
- Track monthly Maintenance R & M costs by machine with aim to control spending.
- Keep abreast of new technologies and methodologies relevant to the performance of the maintenance department.
- Manage facility maintenance - plumbing, HVAC, electrical, security, safety)
- Assist in assuring HACCP, GMP’s, Work Instructions and Food Safety Quality system requirements (SQF) are in compliance.
- Lead 5S Workshop for Maintenance Team
- Develop maintenance procedures and ensure implementation
- Plan and oversee all repairs and installation activities.
- Must be organized and aware of all mechanical needs in order to help production reduce waste (must be proactive).
- Must be trained on

1. the sources of gluten (wheat, rye, barley, spelt, kamut and related grains),

2. the risk associated with gluten cross contamination and its impact on those with celiac disease; and

3. how to report instances of suspected contamination.

**Projects**
- Prepare documentation and assist in preparation of justifications for modification of equipment and for the purchase of new equipment.
- Prepare and analyze bids for major contractors and makes recommendation for selection.
- Assist in sourcing equipment suppliers and brokers for available machinery.
- Plan, organize and co-ordinate execution of all project work.
- Liaise with government and regulatory bodies, ie. Ministry of Labour and WSIB, and ensures all new installations or modifications meet the applicable regulations.
- Provide input to capital expense budget forecasts.
- Control capital project costs within budgeted limits.
- Design equipment modifications and makes recommendations to resolve work method problems.

**Managerial Responsibilities**
- Direct and supervise Maintenance department: provide direction, conduct annual performance appraisals, provide/arrange for appropriate training & development, and provide input into hiring and termination decisions as well as compensation decisions
- Maintain Team Member activities in accordance with Ozery policies and health and safety regulations.
- Participate in disciplinary measures within the maintenance group.
- Manage contractors when required.
- Promote continuous improvement.
- Ensure department goals are aligned with those of the Company to provide maximum contribution.
- Shared commitment to the development and continuing improvement of a positive food safety and quality culture

Qualifications:

- Must hold a degree in Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
- 3 - 5 years of related experience in manufacturing.
- A complete understanding of quality management systems and tools, such as Lean Manufacturing, etc.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Planning and organizational skills.
- Must be able to meet target dates, prioritize and practice excellent time management skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Should have considerable skills in problem solving, administration, supervision, planning, communications, decision making and follow up.
- Proficient in MS Office
- Professional verbal and written communications and interpersonal skills.
- Project management skills

**Salary**: From $90,000.00 per year
