What You Would Do in This RoleThe Senior Process Engineer participates in the design of different aspects of energy industry projects from inception to completion. li>
Performing independent process studies and producing design documentationPerforming and checking equipment sizing, line sizing, and pipeline hydraulic calculationsPreparing and checking instrument process specifications and preliminary sizing of in-line devicesAssisting in the development of process design basisDeveloping the process design for a project or proposalProviding comprehensive engineering and design services by establishing design criteria and preparing specifications, design computations, drawings, models, and bills of material in accordance with basic project requirementsParticipating in the design of component parts and individual unitsExercising cost/budget control, and reviewing and monitoring designs for conformance with control estimates and project specificationsReviewing and maintaining project schedules, and tracking engineering tasks and deliverables in conjunction with project managementSupervising the various activities involved in the design of a project consisting of several complex process unitsPerforming detailed calculationsParticipating in design reviews and HAZOPs as requiredProviding technical guidance to junior staffInterfacing with client representativesMaintaining current knowledge of industry and regulatory standardsReviewing vendor or subcontractor quotations, drawings, and specifications for technical adequacy and conformance with project requirementsApplying advanced engineering techniques and analyses to complex engineering tasksAdhering to Vista Quality Management System (QMS)Ensuring design is in accordance with applicable codes and requirements, including Vista and client specifications and standardsAssigning and outlining work for others, and reviewing work for technical accuracy and adequacyActively stewarding change management as related to their scopes of workPreparing or assisting in the preparation of discipline inputs for cost estimates for proposalsProviding construction supportAuthenticating documentation with a professional engineering stamp as requiredPerforming other duties as requestedRequirements- Eight years of progressive experience in facilities engineering and design in the energy industry
- Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in engineering or applied science
- Ability to work and collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team including Process, Mechanical, Civil, Structural & Architectural, Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls and Piping Engineers and Designers as well as Project Management and Procurement personnel
- P.Eng. registration with APEGA
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong organizational skills, technical competence and attention to detail
- Self-motivated and efficient in time management
- Strong working knowledge and understanding of applicable codes and industry standards
- Ability to meet safety requirements to attend site visit
- Eight years or more of experience as a fully qualified engineer, with five or more years of experience in the energy industry.
