Job Overview
Jensen Hughes has a new job opportunity for a Process Safety Engineer in our Calgary, AB Office. This person will perform, direct and grow engineering service offerings in industrial occupancies, including process hazard analysis (PHA), process safety management (PSM), dust hazard analysis (DHA) and Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA).
Responsibilities
Conduct or oversee PHA, DHA, QRA and PSM projectsPlan and direct process safety audit activitiesBusiness development with both existing and new clientsWork with management and other internal BD resources to execute strategic plansRegular involvement in regional and national industry organizationsGuide development of tools and templates for use by internal staffProvide training and mentoring to internal staff and new hiresMay serve as expert, guest speaker or contributing author to publications in niche areaRequirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) or higher in Chemical Engineering or related, and 10 or more years of related experience and/or training.Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration with APEGA is required.Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Institute of Safety and Health Management (ISHM) or comparable certification strongly preferred.Experience with PHA Software.High-level written and oral communication skills to write reports, business correspondence, presentations, etc., and to respond to questions from clients, prospective clients, management and internal staff.Demonstrated knowledge of the fourteen PSM elements, and one or more PHA techniques.Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where limited or no standardization exists.Knowledge/experience in one or more of the following specialized areas is desirable but not critical: Industrial safety / hygiene / CSA z767 / CCPSElectrical safetyIndustrial (specialty) ventilation analysis and designInstrumentation & controls (safety instrumented systems)Emergency planningConduct or oversee QRA, including consequence modeling Willingness to learn fire protection building code discipline and interact with jurisdictional authorities.Ability to 25%-35%#LI-KV1
