In Canada, this institution operates as a chartered bank, providing a comprehensive range of retail and corporate banking services. It is majorly owned by its international parent company, with a minority stake held by another banking entity. With a network that includes branches, centers, and a premium banking office, it covers major immigration cities across several provinces, including Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, and Quebec. The institution's service offerings in Canada encompass a wide array of banking services such as deposits, loans, settlement remittances, trade finance, foreign exchange trading, and more, catering to both corporate and retail banking needs.

Position Overview The Director's primary responsibility is to provide strategic guidance and oversight, necessitating a seasoned executive with a proven and relevant career history, particularly within the Canadian Financial Services industry.
The ideal candidate will have a background in the financial services industry with a focus on banking or large insurance companies, and board experience. Experience in corporate lending, and/or workout is needed. Experience with risk management and dealing with regulators would be helpful. The Director will be expected to be financially literate and will also sit as a member of the audit committee.
As the business landscape evolves, the Director must develop and continuously improve the Board's risk oversight practices, bringing invaluable insight to critical discussions at Board meetings.
Key Responsibilities The Director will fulfill the requirements as defined in the Board of Directors Mandate, including but not limited to:
The Board reviews and approves the Bank's policies developed by Senior Management and authorizes Senior Management to establish the implementing procedures. The Board will approve the Bank's business plan and annual budget, establish the Bank's risk tolerance, and receive regular assurance from Senior Management that the Bank is managing risk within the tolerance levels and frameworks the Board has previously established. The Board will review overall performance against the quarterly budget. The Board will receive regular assurance from Senior Management that the Bank consistently complies with applicable laws and regulations. The Board will oversee and review significant corporate lending activity.
