Strathcona is currently seeking a Facilities Engineer to join the Cold Lake team. The Facilities Engineer will work with the Tucker Facilities Engineering team to oversee the planning, design, and execution of complex projects. This role requires a deep understanding of engineering principles, project management skills, and extensive industry experience to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards. The successful candidate will also assist Operations by providing technical support in areas of troubleshooting, risk analysis, and facility optimization.

  1. Lead the engineering and design efforts for the SAGD Thermal Facility projects.
  2. Manage facility engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
  3. Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including HSER, Development, Production, Operations, Drilling, Completions, and Earthworks Construction.
  4. Interface with third-party engineering and construction contractors to ensure that design and execution expectations are met.
  5. Prepare Project Charters, Project Execution Plans, and other technical documents.
  6. Ensure designs comply with industry standards, regulations, company policies and project specifications.
  7. Ensure engineering contractors prepare all construction documents, and review them for completeness and accuracy.
  8. Participate in 3D model reviews and Process Hazard Analysis (e.g., What-if, Risk Assessment, HAZOP, etc.).
  9. Monitor and enforce the corporate Health, Safety, Environment, and Regulatory (HSER) requirements.
  10. Facilitate and participate in system walk-downs and pre-safety startup reviews (PSSRs).
  11. Assist in monitoring and surveillance of pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
  12. Provide technical support and troubleshooting for operations and maintenance as required.
Requirements:
  1. 5 - 15 years of experience in a Project Engineer or related role in the Oil and Gas industry.
  2. PMP or other project management certifications are considered an asset.
  3. Familiarity with SAGD Infrastructure and regulatory requirements in Alberta.
  4. Design and Installation of SAGD facilities and infrastructure, including pipelines.
  5. Familiar with material procurement and construction contract execution.
  6. Familiar with brownfield facility construction.
  7. Proven track record managing engineering and construction contractors.

Calgary office-based

Job requires some degree of travel to the field. Monthly trips to the field are expected.
