Engineer-in-Training for Oil Production Facilities

Strathcona Resources Ltd. is a Calgary-based oil and gas production company focused on maximizing recovery from its low-decline resource base.

We are seeking an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join our Tucker Thermal team in Calgary. Reporting to the Team Lead, Facilities – Tucker, the EIT will work with the Tucker Facilities Engineering team to support project planning & execution, drive technical requirements of projects and ensure code & regulatory compliance.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and designing oil production facilities, including SAGD multi-well pads, compressors, pumps, separators, storage tanks, and pipeline systems. Additionally, they will conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost-benefit analyses for new and existing facilities.

This role requires strong technical knowledge and skills in facility engineering, as well as excellent communication and collaboration skills. The EIT will work closely with internal stakeholder teams, including HSER, Development, Production Operations, and Capital Operations, to ensure that projects are executed safely and efficiently.

Key qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum, or Electrical Engineering, registration or eligibility to be registered with APEGA as an engineer-in-training, and minimum 2 years of related experience. Familiarity with steam-assisted-gravity-drainage (SAGD) and previous work experience in the oil and gas industry are considered assets.

The salary for this position is estimated at $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience. Office-based role located in Calgary with periodic travel to site required to support project execution.
