De Beers Group has an opportunity for an experienced Senior Financial Manager to join the Finance Team at the Calgary Support Centre on a full-time basis for 24 months. This position is based at the De Beers Calgary Support Centre located at the Calgary International Airport. The schedule is currently a hybrid style consisting of two days in the office and three days at home.

The Senior Finance Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining a standardised and optimised systems approach to the cyclical and regular operational and consolidated operational budgets, commercial and investment decisions, financial reporting and tax submissions for the Managed Operations business and Gahcho Kue Mine Joint Venture partners.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provide Canada with finance leadership, producing high quality business performance and cyclical reports, performing analytics and predictive trend analysis as a core commercial decision support mechanism.
  2. Plan, prepare, issue and maintain the annual operational budget, capital, financial and audit schedule for all operations and functions within the DBCI business.
  3. Lead the development of standardised and optimised financial management and reporting systems and processes.
  4. Manage the financial control and governance environment, including the responsibility for the external audit relationship.
  5. Consolidate monthly, cyclical and annual Financial Statements for DBCI ensuring adherence to International Financial Reporting Standards.
  6. Prepare and review cyclical and consolidated balance sheet reconciliation for DBCI.
  7. Maintain, upgrade and enhance all financial systems and coordinate the design and implementation of new systems.
  8. Lead the timely submission of approved corporate direct and indirect tax returns for all Managed Operations in Canada.
  9. Develop and maintain the DBCI insurance portfolio ensuring all claims and administration are adequately covered.
  10. Assist Managed Operations’ CFO with budget formulation and funding requirements.
  11. Drive continuous improvement and operational efficiency within the De Beers Canada team.
  12. Manage the relationship and SLA with Anglo GSS for shared service functions.
  13. Lead and present the De Beers Canada long range investment and commercial options evaluation.
  14. Manage Closure Project financial management for Snap Lake, Victor Mine.
  15. Prepare and communicate Gahcho Kue mine Joint Venture financial planning and analysis.
  16. Assist Managed Operations’ CFO with Gahcho Kue Joint Venture relationships management.
  17. Provide commercial management support to DBCi Managed Operations.
  18. Support business improvement plans while providing commercial support in execution.

Qualifications

  1. Appropriate Finance or Commercial qualification with a Professional Accounting designation (CPA, CGMA).
  2. Demonstrated systems thinking to construct models that help to understand the design of the system.
  3. Working knowledge of Financial, Cost and Capital management.
  4. Advanced knowledge and application of Scenario planning, Business valuations, and long-range planning.
  5. Sound appreciation for the complexities associated with multi-jurisdictional tax management.
  6. Advanced Accounting Package/Software and Systems knowledge.
  7. Well-developed relationship building with key stakeholders.
  8. Work with diverse teams and sensitive to local social, political and cultural realities.
  9. Sets and meets high personal standards holding self and others to account.
  10. Highly developed business acumen and can translate commercial challenges into opportunities for improvement.
